The information below is based on tips from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)<\/a> in the USA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default\">What can you do to protect yourself and others?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"is-style-default\"><li>Avoid contact with sick people.<\/li><li>Avoid animals (alive or dead), animal markets, and products that come from animals (such as uncooked meat).<\/li><li>Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser if soap and water are not available.<\/li><li>Stay at home if you have signs and symptoms of an infection.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing.<\/li><li>Travel wisely.&nbsp;Don\u2019t fly when you\u2019re ill. With so many people confined to such a small area, you may infect other passengers in the plane. And your trip won\u2019t be comfortable, either.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default\">With a little common sense and the proper precautions, you can avoid infectious diseases and&nbsp;avoid spreading them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default\">If you travelled to China in the last 14 days and feel sick with fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, you should:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"is-style-default\"><li>Seek medical care right away. Before you go to a doctor\u2019s office or emergency room, call ahead and tell them about your recent travel and your symptoms.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Avoid contact with others.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"is-style-default\">What is the current situation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"is-style-default\"><li>This outbreak began in early December 2019 and continued to expand in scope and magnitude. Chinese health officials have reported first cases in the city of Wuhan and severe illness has been reported, including deaths.&nbsp;It has spread to all around the world.<\/li><li>Person-to-person spread is occurring.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2>What to look out for regarding the Coronavirus virus:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default\">According to the CDC, a person could be at risk if they have:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"is-style-default\"><li>Fever&nbsp;<strong>and&nbsp;<\/strong>symptoms of lower respiratory illness, such as coughing or difficulty breathing,&nbsp;<strong>after travelling to Wuhan or having close contact with someone&nbsp;<\/strong>who was ill and is now under investigation for the virus in the past two weeks.<\/li><li>Fever&nbsp;<strong>or&nbsp;<\/strong>symptoms of lower respiratory illness&nbsp;<strong>after having close contact&nbsp;<\/strong>in the past two weeks with someone who\u2019s been&nbsp;<strong>confirmed<\/strong>&nbsp;to have the virus.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/wwwnc.cdc.gov\/travel\/notices\/watch\/novel-coronavirus-china(opens in a new tab)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CDC<\/a> defined \u201cclose contact\u201d as being within about 6 feet (1.8 m) \u201cor within the room or care area\u201d of a person with the coronavirus for a prolonged period without appropriate protective clothing, or \u201chaving direct contact with infectious secretions\u201d of a person with the virus without protective clothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default\">The agency said close contact could include \u201ccaring for, living with, visiting, or sharing a health care waiting area or room\u201d with a person with the virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center is-style-default\">EpiGuard provides extensive and detailed training with the EpiShuttle to stop the spread of the virus.
